Sungur, who previously served as the president of the European Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT), is based in the USA.<em>President of the International Association for Cognitive Therapies (IACP) <\/em>He was elected as the first non-American president of this international association of cognitive therapies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prof. Sungur provides national and international training to promote the more frequent and targeted use of cognitive therapies, which have proven effective in addressing issues such as phobias, obsessions, panic attacks, trauma, depression, eating disorders, and sexual dysfunction. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is currently the only therapy method with greater effectiveness than medication in treating many disorders, and is successfully used in couples therapy, childhood psychiatric disorders, and even schizophrenia.<br \/>\nProf. Mehmet Sungur has chaired numerous national and international congresses on cognitive behavioral therapies and has received various awards.<br \/>\nThe 4th National Congress of the Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies Association will be held from November 5-8, 2015. The main theme of this congress is &quot;Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies at the Crossroads of Science and Art,&quot; and Professor Sungur will chair it. Professor Sungur will also chair the European Congress of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, which will be held in Istanbul from September 20-23, 2017.
